Born and raised on a grain farm in rural Saskatchewan, Canada, Chef Steve’s journey to becoming Itaberco’s Corporate Pastry Chef is as remarkable as it is inspiring. Grounded in hard work and creativity, Chef Steve’s path reflects bold choices and reinvention.
After over a decade in musical theater, performing on Broadway stages, and appearing in film and television, Chef Steve sought a new avenue to channel his passion. In 2011, he transitioned to pastry arts, graduating at the top of his class from the French Culinary Institute. He refined his skills in New York City’s renowned kitchens, learning under acclaimed mentors like James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Claudia Fleming.
In 2014, Chef Steve and his husband, Rob, established a thriving hospitality business in Maryland, including a celebrated bakery and wedding cake studio. His talents earned national recognition, including winning Season One of Food Network’s Haunted Gingerbread Showdown. During the pandemic, Chef Steve shared his expertise as faculty at the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, mentoring aspiring chefs.
Now, as Itaberco’s Corporate Pastry Chef, Chef Steve partners closely with clients to create signature desserts, refine menus, and troubleshoot challenges. With expertise in menu planning, flavor innovation, and high-volume production, Chef Steve combines technical precision with imaginative flair to elevate dessert programs.
