How to Use Your Itaberco Flavor Compound Samples

Thank you for ordering your Itaberco Sample Kit! Whether you're working with our Flavor Compounds for the first time or exploring something new, here are a few tips and best practices to help you get the most out of your samples.

What’s in Your Sample?
Each sample jar contains approximately 120–140 grams of Flavor Compound. Depending on your test batch size and recommended usage rate, you may need more than one sample jar of the same flavor.

Storage & Shelf Life
  • Flavor Compounds are shelf-stable, even after opening.
  • Do not refrigerate. Refrigeration can actually decrease shelf life.
  • Flavor Compounds can have a shelf life of up to two years. Always refer to the expiration date printed on your sample label.
Recommended Starting Usage Rates
Flavor Compound Type
Recommended Usage
Most Flavor Compounds
3–5% of finished recipe
Nut-Based Compounds & Pastes
6–10% of finished recipe

These percentages are recommended starting points. Adjust based on your desired flavor intensity, formulation, and application.

How to Incorporate Your Samples

1) Start with your existing recipe.
Determine your total batch weight and calculate the amount of Flavor Compound needed.

2) Add your Flavor Compound.
Incorporate it as one of the final steps in your recipe.

3) Mix thoroughly.
Stir or blend until the Flavor Compound is fully incorporated.

4) Taste and adjust.
Start at the lower end of the recommended usage range and increase as needed.

You can always add more flavor, but you can't take it back out! Start small, taste, and adjust until you've reached your desired flavor profile.

Every application is a little different. Our culinary team has developed and tested hundreds of recipes to inspire you and to help you achieve the best results when incorporating Flavor Compounds into frozen desserts, beverages, and pastry applications.
